The evening I shot this was memorable not for the picture itself, but the sky is incredible here. It was one of those evenings where I completely got lost in the color and beauty of the light that I completely immersed myself into capturing it without being aware of my surroundings.

I can't lie. This entire day was fantastic from dawn (I shot at Battery Spencer that morning) to dusk. For the evening, I started the the hike up the trail towards Engagement Hill near Wolfback Ridge with all of the intentions of shooting The Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline which I did, but the light to my immediate right kind of came out of nowhere and I pointed my other tripod and other camera down Rodeo Valley and just started snapping away. It was beautiful with the color changing from yellow, to gold, to red, then pink.

The memorable part came while as I was shooting, refocusing, and recomposing images out towards the Pacific Ocean, I turned around to see a coyote just sitting down chillin' no more than 10 feet away from me. Evidently, he just came up to see what was going on and rest. After a while, he got up and began tracking a man walking two small dogs along the trail below. I find the coyotes in the headlands pretty good about not being aggressive towards humans, but it's always a good idea to keep an eye on your surrounds and not get lost in the image.

So here's one for that coyote. No, I didn't take a picture or try to interact with the coyote. I just let the wildlife do what they do without bothering them. I've seen my fair share of deer, coyotes, bobcats, and racoons at the headlands, but luckily I've never come across a mountain lion in that vicinity.
